Rams and Shrines

Just returned from a fun-filled weekend in St. Louis with two of our best friends. The highlight and reason for the trip was to attend our first NFL game and cheer on the St. Louis Rams. The Rams lost (shocking, I know) but we walked away with many wonderful memories. While in town, we had the opportunity to visit Our Lady of the Snows and see the Way of Lights. It was beautiful!

Recipe: Green Bean Casserole

I have tried a few green bean sides in the past but cannot find anything better than green bean casserole!

1 can cream of mushroom soup

3/4c milk

2 cans cut green beans, drained

1 can fried onions

pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients, including half of the fried onions. Bake for 30 minutes. Top casserole with remaining onions and bake for 5 minutes.

Teacher/Homeschool Resouces

I know that teachers and moms are always looking for resources with a small price tag! I was tipped off to shop.ccreplay.com a few years ago and have purchased several of their items. I especially love the music wands. When a child strikes them at either end, a pitch sounds. I have even seen junior high kids play with the music wands! What a great way to introduce sound, pitch and waves.

The Most Wonderful Time

Marching season has come to an end! Our last competition is in the books and the football team has played it's last game. What does that mean? Time to read Christmas music!

Not only is our Christmas concert coming up in mid-December, but there are a couple of auditions on the calendar as well. Many of our band kids will be auditioning for honor bands over the next few weeks. It's a busy season!

Corey Leonard: Bama’s Homecoming Queen

I am a huge Bama fan but I’ve always said that if ASU ever played Bama, I would cheer for ASU. And I never thought that match-up would ever happen…but it did. The Lady Indians hosted Bama’s basketball team last year and, true to my word, I was true to my school.

I found out a few weeks ago that ASU is headed to Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 1st. I am so excited about the game. I hope that ASU does well (aka isn’t creamed).

And in recent news, Bama’s homecoming will be the ASU game. Oh, boy.

Cabana Boy Optional

I had surgery on my sinuses yesterday. Not a terribly bad experience at this point but my face hurts and I REALLY want to clear my nose.

Right before I was "put under", the nurse told me which drugs they would give me and how I would feel. Oh, and she gave me permission to dream about cabana boys and strawberry daiquiris. I thought that was odd and funny.

The drugs are good, as usual. I remember complaining about how much my eyes hurt while I was in recovery. A nice nurse asked me to rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10 and when I said, “11″, she promptly gave me a shot and I drifted into a peaceful sleep for three hours.

I will survive. Hopefully with fewer sinus infections.

Go stAte!

I think it’s time I chimed in on ASU’s mascot change. I personally think that ASU should fight to keep the Indian mascot. But if we must change, I like the ASU Rising Tuition.Hear me out!

We could change the name of the stadium from “Indian Stadium” to “Mohela Stadium”. Just think of all of the money ASU could get for that name change!

Oh, and the fight song! We could keep the song and change the lyrics from:

“On, on, on to Victory!
Brave team you’re second to none.
Let’s make this game history
Along with the others you’ve won!
Fight! Fight! Fight! With all your might
So that the world may see
That I-N-D-I-A-N-S means Vic-to-ry! (State!)”

To:

“We’re in debt up to our knees!
Ka-ching! We’re second to none!
Let’s make student loan history
With Mohela and Capitol One!
Swipe! Swipe! Swipe!
With all your might
So that our ‘rents can see
Our T-U-I-T-I-O-N and Higher fees! (stAte!)”

Just a thought.

Some other suggestions I’ve heard include:

Scarlet Fever (ugh. no.)
Scarlet A’s (hahahahaha. no)
Fighting Catfish (bottom feeders?)
Ivory Bill Woodpeckers (NO!!!)
Cottonmouths (…maybe…)
Aggies (No…respect to Texas A&M)
Fighting Farmers (hahahaha…nope!)
Skeeters (lol…only as a joke)
Red Wolves (only if we can use the nWo music and have Kevin Nash on the sidelines)
